The Ariti Herbal Garden
The recent worldwide increase in the demand for medicinal and aromatic plants is encouraging many developing countries to cultivate and process these plants in order to bring value added herbal products for local and international markets. The main aim of the Ariti Herbal Garden, located 27 km west of Addis Ababa is to serve as a site for the cultivation and conservation of medicinal and aromatic plants. As shown below several interesting species are found in the garden. Some of the plants such as citronella, rosemary, lemongrass, palmarosa etc are processed for production of herb teas, essential oils and other beauty and health products.
