Natural Database for Africa (NDA)
Version 2.0, August 11
This is the second release of NDA, with considerable improvement over Version 1.0 which was released in Dec. 2009. NDA is created by Ermias Dagne, Emeritus Professor of Chemistry, Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia. The main aim of this database is to enable the user to get basic information about each species including scientific name, synonyms, local names, common English names, occurrence, uses, chemical constituents etc. In some cases photographs of the plant and its parts are included.
For version 2.0. we are grateful to Mr Yonathan Aklilu, Ms Letay Teklay and Mr Sisay Mersha for modifying the computer program and to Mr Biruk Sileshi and Mr Yehualashet Belete for editorial work and data entry. Special thanks go to Prof Ben-Erik van Wyk of Johannesburg University, South Africa, who allowed us to include several photographs of plants from his books cited in the database.
